How Online Payment Fees Work on Posa (United States / USD)

For businesses in the United States using USD, your Posa online store can use Stripe. Here is how processing and platform fees relate to your subscription plan.

When customers pay on your Posa online store (webshop) in USD, payments are processed by Stripe (Connect). Fees apply on successful transactions. These fees are for online webshop payments only and do not apply to in-store POS transactions.

Important:

The Posa online payment service fee is based on your current business subscription plan. Stripe’s card and payment-method rates, fee line labels, and any network or dispute fees are set by Stripe and can differ by payment method and account setup. Always refer to Stripe’s official pricing for the latest details.

1. Fee breakdown per successful payment

Each successful USD webshop payment generally includes:

Stripe (United States) — payment processor

Per Stripe’s pricing page, a common standard rate for successful US charges is 2.9% + 30¢ per successful transaction for domestic cards (rates and labels can change—always confirm on Stripe’s site).

Additional fees may apply depending on how the customer pays, for example:

  • +0.5% for manually entered cards
  • +1.5% for international cards
  • +1% if currency conversion is required

Other fees, caps, and product-specific rules are documented on Stripe’s pricing page. Stripe’s processing fees are separate from Posa’s application fee below. After Stripe collects the payment, Posa’s share is taken as an application fee; the remainder flows to your Stripe Connect balance per Stripe’s settlement rules.

2. Worked example (Stripe Checkout, sandbox)

Below is a real flow from a Stripe sandbox test using standard domestic-style pricing. Your live dashboard may show small rounding differences; always use Stripe as the source of truth.

Order basis

Payment amount (charge basis used for the split): $126.00

Step 1 — Stripe processing fee

Stripe’s processing fee for this payment was $3.95, consistent with the standard formula for domestic cards:

2.9% × $126.00 + $0.30 = $3.654 + $0.30 = $3.954 → $3.95 (rounded)

What the customer paid at Stripe Checkout: about $129.96 in this test ($126.00 + $3.95 = $129.95 before any last-step rounding or display rules in Checkout).

Step 2 — After Stripe: net to split

After Stripe takes its $3.95 fee, roughly $126.00 remains as the amount used for the platform vs. connected split (as shown in your Stripe balance view for this charge).

Step 3 — Posa application fee (Premium plan)

This business was on Posa Premium (0.5% application fee on the payment amount):

0.5% × $126.00 = $0.63 → Posa

Connected account receives: $126.00 − $0.63 = $125.37

Summary

  • Customer paid at Checkout (approx.): $129.96
  • Stripe processing fee: $3.95
  • Amount used for Posa vs. seller split: $126.00
  • Posa application fee (Premium — 0.5%): $0.63
  • Connected account (seller) receives: $125.37

On other orders, the same structure applies: Stripe’s fee (per Stripe’s rules for that payment method) comes first, then Posa’s percentage (1.5% Starter / 1% Plus / 0.5% Premium) as the application fee, with the remainder to your Connect balance.
